Hemokromatozis

Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) which is transmitted as an autosomal recessive trait, is a common disease related to iron metabolism. Hereditary hemochromatosis which has been characterized by high iron accumulation in the inner organs ( liver, heart, pancreas) , takes the patients to liver cirrhosis, diabetes, cardiomyopathy and ultimately lead to death at early ages.

Incidence frequency of the disease is 1/200-400 and carrier frequency is 1/8-10. Males are more prone to have the disease than females are. Average age range for the disease to become effective is between 30-60.
